About the ACCA Qualification
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) offers a global qualification based on International Financial Reporting Standards designed to provide the accounting knowledge, skills and professional values to enable you to become a Finance Professional and build a successful career in all sectors such as auditing, banking, finance, industry, hospitality and logistics.
The ACCA offers entry routes for those with A Level or equivalent (The ACCA Qualification) in addition to an open entry route (Foundations in Accountancy). Whilst the FIA programme is a qualification in its own right, most students choose to do the three FIA Diploma level papers and then transfer to the ACCA qualification. In practice this means that most students will progress seamlessly through their ACCA studies irrespective of entry requirements. However Phoenix strongly advises that students wait until they are 18 years old in order to have the necessary maturity to handle the demands of professional study and be old enough, upon qualification, to make a meaningful contribution in the workplace. All personal circumstances are different however, so please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will provide the best, tailored, impartial advice in the market.
There is a strong focus on professional values, ethics and governance. This is essential because the profession is moving towards strengthened codes of conduct, regulation and legislation, which is why the ACCA qualification has an increased focus on professionalism and ethics in accounting.
Professionalism and ethics is examined at the highest level in the ACCA Qualification. It is also a main part of the practical experience that you must complete to qualify as a full member.
To qualify as an ACCA member, you will need to complete:
Exams | A minimum of five out of 14 exams (nine are eligible for exemption*) please scroll to the bottom of this page for detailed information on the examinations |
Experience | Record 36 months' experience in a relevant accounting or finance role |
Ethics | The Professional Ethics module |
*Up to nine of the exams which are part of the qualification may not need to be taken if you have other relevant qualifications at the same level. You will need to provide proof of your previous qualifications so you can claim exemptions.
As you progress to full ACCA membership, there are qualifications you can gain along the way. This is a great way to demonstrate your knowledge and skills to employers and helps keep you on track and motivated. You can achieve:
- A Diploma in Accounting and Business
- An Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business
- A BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Accounting awarded by Oxford Brookes University
Our courses are delivered in the D.I.F.C and the Dubai World Trade Centre by carefully selected and approved tutors who are the envy of our competitors. With flexible payment options and course hours to suit a multitude of personal schedules, and a long list of student success stories, at Phoenix we always put the student first.
EXAMS
The ACCA exams are divided into two levels; Fundamentals and Professional. The Fundamentals level is further divided into two modules Knowledge and Skills. The Knowledge module introduces you to the main areas of financial and management accounting. You will study the other technical accountancy areas after you study this. There are six subjects in the Skills module which cover the main technical areas that accountants are expected to know.

The Professional level is divided into two modules; Essentials and Options. Both of the modules at Professional level have been set at the same ability level as a Masters degree. This level builds on the technical knowledge you will already have. It will also explore more advanced professional skills, techniques and values. These are required at a senior level by accountants working in an advisory or consultancy role. All students have to pass the three papers in the Essentials module. The Options module contains four papers, but you only need to complete two.
